Orana Clyde Pet Hospital is brand new.

You won't be walking into a nursing culture that was decided years ago.

We're starting with a small nursing team of three, and we're looking for an experienced Cert IV nurse who is confident, takes initiative and wants to use their nursing skills properly.
Someone who cares about providing excellent patient care.
Who wants pet owners to have a 10 out of 10 experiences.
And who cares about making the people around them better too.
We Want Nurses to Nurse
We don't want skilled nurses spending their careers being treated like kennel hands while their clinical ability goes unused.
We want you using your skills.
Involved in patient care.
Working alongside our vets.
And contributing to the systems and protocols that shape how nursing is done here.
Of course, everyone will pitch in when something needs doing.
That's part of being a small team.
But our goal is to practise nursing at the highest level we can.
And we'd like you to help us set that standard.

When things get chaotic, you stay calm.
You can look beyond your own task list, work out what needs to happen next and help the team get through the day well.
You're confident without the ego.
You accept feedback.
You can hear "no" without taking it personally.
And when you find a problem, you don't just point at it.
You think about how it could be better.
You'll also enjoy helping junior nurses and Cert IV students develop.
You don't need to arrive as a fully formed nurse manager.
But you should enjoy bringing the best out of other people — or genuinely want to learn how.
There's Something Different About Joining at the Beginning
Let's be upfront.
There will be quiet days at first.
We're new. We won't pretend otherwise.
But we think the right person will see opportunity in that.
Develop a protocol. Improve a system. Train another nurse. Practise a skill.
Help us put things in place now so that when the hospital gets busy, the nursing team is ready for it.
And we do intend to get busy.
When that happens, we'll need you to shift gears.
Be efficient. Manage your time. Help the people around you do the same.
And maintain the standards we established when things were quieter.

As Orana grows, we'd love this role to grow too.
More responsibility
More opportunity to develop the nurses around you.
And potentially, leadership of the nursing team you helped build.
But this isn't just about eventually getting a title.

We want to be very good at what we do. But we don't want to build a workplace that takes itself so seriously nobody enjoys coming to work.

The Practical Stuff
This is a full-time position based in Clyde, Victoria.
Initially, you'll work approximately one Saturday in three, with the intention of reducing that frequency as the nursing team grows.
We're closed Sundays and public holidays.
