Are you a Veterinary Nurse who wants to actually use your nursing skills?
At Sugarland Animal Hospital, our nurses are an integral part of the clinical team. We want our nurses monitoring anaesthetics, caring for hospital patients, running diagnostics, assisting with procedures and playing an active role in patient care — not spending their entire day answering phones or standing at reception.
We’re looking for a Full-Time Veterinary Nurse to join our large and growing team in Bundaberg, Queensland.
Why Sugarland?
Sugarland Animal Hospital is an ASAV Accredited Hospital of Excellence providing high-standard veterinary care to Bundaberg and the surrounding region.
We have a large veterinary, nursing, reception, grooming and support team, with dedicated roles that allow our clinical staff to focus on what they're trained to do.
Our hospital has invested heavily in advanced equipment and technology, including:
- CT
- Ultrasound
- Digital radiography
- Endoscopy
- Dental radiography
- In-house pathology
- Dedicated surgical theatres
- Advanced anaesthetic and patient monitoring
- AI-supported diagnostic technology
For our nurses, that means interesting patients, interesting procedures and plenty of opportunities to learn.
What Does Nursing Here Look Like?
We operate with dedicated reception and client-care staff, meaning our nurses can spend significantly more of their time providing clinical nursing care.
More Than Routine Veterinary Nursing
We're continuing to develop Sugarland and Bundaberg Emergency Animal Hospital as a regional triage, emergency and referral centre.
That means our team sees everything from routine surgical and medical patients through to trauma, emergencies, advanced diagnostic workups, CT cases and patients referred to us from surrounding practices.
We also work alongside visiting specialists, giving our nurses exposure to cases and procedures that aren't commonly available in regional general practice.
If you enjoy learning and want to continue developing your clinical skills, there is plenty of opportunity here.
Who We're Looking For
We'd love to hear from nurses who:
- Hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent experience
- Have strong clinical nursing skills
- Take pride in providing excellent patient care
- Enjoy being part of a large team
- Communicate well with both clients and colleagues
- Want to continue learning and developing professionally
- Are comfortable with days that don't always go exactly to plan
Our hospital is busy and our caseload can change quickly.
For the right person, that's one of the best parts of the job.
You'll have the opportunity to be hands-on, see interesting cases, learn new skills and genuinely contribute to patient outcomes.
What We Offer
- Full-time position
- Competitive remuneration based on experience
- Structured roster
- Large veterinary and nursing team
- Dedicated reception and support teams
- Interesting and varied caseload
- Advanced hospital equipment and diagnostics
- Genuine hands-on nursing
- Opportunities to develop areas of special interest
- Exposure to emergency, referral and specialist cases
- Supportive team environment
