Veterinary Nurse – Come and Actually Nurse

City Beach Veterinarians & Forrestdale Veterinary Hospital

We are growing, and we’re looking for another great Veterinary Nurse to join our team. We are not a corporate practice.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from nurses with at least 1 year of experience who enjoy being actively involved in their patients’ care and want to work in a practice where veterinary nurses are encouraged to use their skills, develop their abilities and take responsibility.

We have opportunities for part-time or full-time work, with flexibility around hours for the right person. We are also looking for someone who may be interested in helping cover an upcoming period of maternity leave.

Your time will be spent predominantly at our modern, purpose-built City Beach Veterinary Hospital, with some work at our established Forrestdale Veterinary Hospital as required.

We have all the IDEXX in house equipment which the nurse run.

A nursing role where you actually get to nurse

Our nurses are involved across the full range of patient care — from admissions, anaesthesia and surgery through to hospital care, diagnostics, dentistry, nurse consultations, client communication and discharge.

We want our nurses to be hands-on, involved in cases and able to use the skills they have worked hard to develop. You’ll work closely with our veterinarians and nursing team, with opportunities to continue building your confidence and skills along the way.

An experienced team around you

You’ll be joining a team of approximately 22 staff, including 8 veterinarians, with our vets having between 5 and 41 years of experience.

That depth of experience means there is always someone available to discuss a patient, help with a difficult case, teach a new skill or simply provide another opinion.

Many of our staff have been with us for years, and we place a high value on creating a workplace where people enjoy coming to work and feel part of the team.

We think good hours matter

Veterinary nursing should be a career you can enjoy without it taking over your life.

We offer a working environment with great hours and no after-hours work, within two busy practices that still provide plenty of variety and interesting cases.

We are happy to discuss:

Full-time • Part-time • Maternity leave cover • Flexible hours

For the right person, we are far more interested in finding a roster that works than forcing someone into a rigid set of hours.

Who are we looking for?

Ideally, you will have 1+ years of veterinary nursing experience and be someone who:

Enjoys nursing and takes pride in doing it well
Has initiative and practical common sense
Communicates confidently with clients and colleagues
Likes being involved in patient care
Works well as part of a team
Wants to continue learning and developing
Is reliable, enthusiastic and willing to contribute
Wants to work somewhere they can become a valued part of the practice rather than simply another person on the roster

Above all, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys veterinary nursing and wants to work with a friendly, experienced team in practices that are continuing to grow.
