Rockdale Veterinary Hospital is a busy, growing, independently owned, purpose-built hospital in Sydney's south. We're looking for an enthusiastic Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team.

We're proud of the standard of care we provide, but we're equally serious about creating a workplace where people enjoy coming to work. We want someone who cares about their patients, supports the people around them and takes pride in being a really good nurse.

What you'll find at Rockdale Vets

We have a modern hospital with excellent facilities and a varied medical and surgical caseload. Our nurses are an important part of the clinical team and are encouraged to develop their skills rather than simply spend their days cleaning cages and answering phones.

You'll be involved across the hospital, including anaesthesia and surgical nursing, hospital patient care, dentistry, radiography, pathology, consultations and general nursing.

We're also committed to Fear Free veterinary care. Our team is Fear Free trained and we put a lot of effort into making veterinary visits less frightening and stressful for our patients. If you're not already Fear Free certified, we'll pay for your training and help you get there.

And because we'd like you to keep developing:

You'll receive $500 every year towards continuing education or further study in an area that interests you.

Who are we looking for?

Ideally, you'll:

● Hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

● Have at least one year of veterinary nursing experience

● Be confident, caring and genuinely interested in providing excellent patient care

● Have good communication and organisational skills

● Enjoy being part of a team and helping the people around you

● Be willing to learn – none of us knows everything, and we don't expect you to

● Take responsibility for your work and understand that attention to detail matters enormously in veterinary nursing

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with the right attitude. Skills can continue to develop; being kind, dependable, engaged and willing to learn is much harder to teach.

The role

The position can be full-time or part-time, depending on what works for the right person, and is available to start immediately.

Salary will be above Award and commensurate with experience, and we're very happy to discuss hours and remuneration with the right candidate.

You'll receive plenty of support while settling in. We don't expect a new team member to walk through the door knowing exactly how our hospital operates – we'll take the time to train you properly.
