We like coming to work. We want you to as well.

Qualified Veterinary Nurse. Full time, based in our Millicent clinic. We're a two-location mixed practice on South Australia's beautiful Limestone Coast.

Making life better for our patients, our clients and our team.

Hours: Nine-day fortnight, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–5:30 pm, with a shared Saturday and on-call roster
Breaks: Protected lunch, scheduled every day

Your employers work alongside you

We're privately owned. For 13 years, Sarah and Sean McGrath have worked hard to build an employee-friendly workplace — and they're in the clinic with you, not in a head office somewhere else. (Although they might occasionally be MIA, wrangling too many children.)

We hold Lincoln Institute leadership accreditation as an employer, and we have a long-term, stable team. We invest in leadership, communication, systems and support, so our people feel heard, valued and safe.

We have a dedicated leadership team, an operations manager, an accounts manager, and time set aside to improve our systems. We're always working to build trust and respect — with our clients and with each other.

We work hard and keep high standards. Like an athlete, doing well starts with how you set yourself up: take your breaks, eat lunch, ask for help, and stay home when you're unwell. Then be the one who steps in when a teammate needs a hand.

Veterinary medicine is part of our lives. We don't expect it to be your whole life.

Front of house

Our client services team? Just bloody awesome humans, who know when to sprinkle the right mix of hugs, cheek and food. (And yes, the cats get their own waiting area.)

What we stand for

Our purpose: "Working with our community to provide friendly, quality care to people, pets and livestock."

Our aim: making life better

Our values: Accountability · Connection · Respect · Enjoyment · Achievement · Trust

We're local employers — but more importantly, you'll be led by a team who share their skills and learn from each other. Two of our head nurses have been recognised as standout team leaders.

There's no standard day here

We're a long way from the nearest major referral centre, so we manage a wide range of cases ourselves. A week can hold:

On the farm side: Assisting with farm calls, ram vasectomies, reproductive emergencies and faecal egg counts.
In theatre: Scrubbed in. Monitoring an anaesthetic.
Inpatient care: A real variety — from post-operative orthopaedic care to critical care for snake bites and trauma.
With clients: Spending time with clients to provide supportive care, plus weight clinics and nurse consultations.
Keeping standards high: Maintaining biosecurity, sterility, standards of care and barrier nursing.

You won't face the hairy moments alone. Morning and afternoon huddles, patient rounds and team channels keep help close. We train in the quiet times so we're ready when things get loud.

Life outside the clinic

Home on time means more time for this. Vet work is part of our lives, not all of it. Out here you'll find beaches on our doorstep, the Coonawarra wine region close by, easy access to Mount Gambier Airport, Adelaide about 4.5 hours' drive away, and lots of local sporting clubs to join — a great way to meet people.

Our social side

We work hard. We also know how to have fun. We're a social bunch: a drink or a cuppa together at the end of the day, plenty of banter, and the occasional chance to celebrate. Joining in is never compulsory — but the costume box is always open.

Our nurses are clinicians

Good ideas don't depend on job titles. We value your clinical skills, judgement and contribution to case management. We want you to build autonomy and confidence. If you see a better way, tell us.

You need to love people, too

Great care is a partnership. When clients feel informed, supported and involved, everyone has a better experience — including our team. If you enjoy the animals and the humans attached to them, you'll feel at home here.

Ask our team what it's really like

"Because it is not shit." 😂 — Donna, Head Nurse, on why she works here
"A place where everyone chips in and has your back." — Jasmine, Veterinary Team Leader
"A great workplace culture with amazing collegiality — and refreshingly family-orientated and accommodating." — Sheree, Veterinarian
"Every shift, every task and every little 'good morning' reminds me just how lucky I am to be part of such an amazing workplace." — Kim, Veterinary Nurse
