About Bungendore Veterinary Surgery
Bungendore Veterinary Surgery is a bustling mixed practice just a short drive from Canberra and Queanbeyan. Since 1994, we’ve proudly cared for pets, farm animals, and their people, building our reputation on exceptional clinical care and genuine customer service.
We love what we do and bring heart to every shift—prioritising teamwork, support, and plenty of laughs along the way. With many team members here for 10+ years (one about to hit 30 years), our retention speaks for itself, yet we always welcome fresh perspectives. Want to see what our day-to-day looks like? About the Role
We’re looking for a warm, organised Receptionist to be the welcoming face and friendly voice of our clinic. As the first point of contact, you’ll greet wagging tails, reassure anxious owners, and keep our front desk running smoothly. It is an exciting time to join the team: we are rolling out updated uniforms soon, and later this year or early next year, we will be refreshing and renovating our reception area—giving you a lovely, brand-new space to work in! This role suits someone who thrives in a dynamic setting, connects easily with people, and balances administrative duties with a calm smile.
What You'll Do
- Greet clients and manage phone, email, and front-desk enquiries with warmth and professionalism.
- Schedule consults and procedures for both companion animals and livestock.
- Process payments, invoices, end-of-day balances, and billing enquiries accurately.
- Maintain clinical records, including microchip registrations and vaccination reminders.
- Navigate our practice management software for consent forms, special orders, and client communications.
- Dispense over-the-counter pet products and share helpful product advice.
- Receive, unpack, and restock incoming stock and pharmacy supplies.
- Keep the reception area and consult rooms clean, tidy, and welcoming.
- Coordinate incoming pathology results, patient referrals, and specialist correspondence.
What We're Looking For
- Communication: A natural people person with outstanding customer service skills.
- Organisation: Calm under pressure, proactive, and capable of balancing multiple priorities.
- Tech Skills: Confident using practice software, email systems, and standard office programs.
- Availability: Able to work either 4 days per week (full-time) or 2–3 days per week (part-time), plus one Saturday morning per month (8:30 am – 1:00 pm).
- Team Fit: Reliable, empathetic, and enthusiastic about contributing to a positive culture.
- Background: Prior veterinary or medical reception experience is a plus, but full training will be provided for the right personality.
- Work Rights: Current Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
What We Offer
- An Upgraded Environment: An upcoming reception renovation later this year/early next year, plus fresh, updated uniforms.
- True Work-Life Balance: Even our full-time role is only 4 days a week! We are open to either full-time (4 days) or part-time (3 days) to suit your lifestyle.
- Modern Equipment: A well-resourced clinic featuring digital radiography, ultrasound, and comprehensive in-house pathology.
- Stability & Support: An established, long-standing team that values well-being and open communication.
- Growth: Competitive above-award remuneration and support for professional development.
- Team Culture: Regular social initiatives, team check-ins, and a supportive environment.
