SASH Alexandria is a purpose-built veterinary referral hospital, located near Sydney’s CBD, providing 24/7 multidisciplinary care to the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and Southern Suburbs of Sydney.
We are currently expanding our Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) team and are seeking a passionate veterinary nurse to join us in a Full-Time position. As part of our ECC team, you’ll play a vital role working closely with patients throughout their entire SASH journey.
What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like:
- Assist with and/or perform advanced interventions such as placement of central, PICC and arterial lines, direct arterial pressure monitoring, urinary catheter placement, feeding tube placement, high flow nasal oxygen provision, and mechanical ventilation
- Participate in and lead CPR resuscitation efforts
- Assist with admissions and discharges from the ICU
- Conduct and collect various laboratory samples for internal and external analysis
- Assist with transfer to and reception of critical care referrals from general practice veterinarians
- Support the emergency department with triage and procedural responsibilities
- Assist with critical care anaesthesia, including TIVA, in collaboration with anaesthetists within the SASH network
Who Are We Looking For?
- A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 2 years’ full-time experience as a qualified nurse
- Genuinely interested in Emergency and Critical Care, with a desire to be involved throughout a patient's SASH journey
- Demonstrated experience managing and prioritising tasks in a busy environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to confidently liaise with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and overnights as part of a 24/7 emergency department
Previous experience in emergency or specialist nursing would be highly regarded but is not essential
