Veterinary Nurse – HAWERA - Taranaki Veterinary Centre
Taranaki Veterinary Centre is a leading, multi-branch veterinary practice based in the heart of South Taranaki, New Zealand. With clinics in Hawera, Stratford, Manaia, Patea and Waverley, we employ over 90 team members, including 30+ veterinarians and 50+ support staff, delivering high-quality care across both companion animal and production animal services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Nurse to join our team, covering maternity leave. You'll work across hospital, surgery and nurse consults, providing excellent care to our patients and clients.
Hours & Roster
- 40 hours per week, shifts rotating between 7.30am–5.30pm (Monday-Friday)
- On call requirements approximately is four nights (Mon-Thurs) every 8 weeks, and one Friday night/Saturday day every 10 weeks.
About the Team
We're a high-standard team performing full medical work-ups and advanced surgical procedures (e.g. extracapsular cruciate repair, perineal urethrostomy). We work closely with our satellite branches, holding regular meetings to maintain consistency and standards of care across the practice.

- Newly renovated companion animal department
- Six consult rooms, three surgical theatres, dental suite
- Isolation ward, two preparation areas
- Onsite IDEXX laboratory (haematology, biochemistry, full urinalysis incl. sediview)
- Digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, echocardiography
Who You Are
- Diploma or Bachelor qualified nurse, or a nurse with strong on-the-job experience
