About Us
Torquay & Surfcoast Veterinary Clinics is a multi-vet small animal practice that has been caring for pets and wildlife along Victoria’s Surf Coast since 1985. Our main hospital is in Torquay, with a smaller clinic in Anglesea, and we look after patients from Torquay, Jan Juc, Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Lorne and surrounding areas.
The practice is owned by Dr Kate Gittings, a fourth-generation Surf Coast local whose connection with the clinic began as a high school work experience student in 1993. Kate later returned as a veterinarian and became practice owner in 2011. Today, our veterinary team brings together a broad range of interests including small animal medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, dentistry, emergency medicine, dermatology and pocket pet medicine.
We see a varied small animal caseload, with wildlife adding another interesting dimension to life at the practice. Being so close to the Otways and the surrounding natural environment, we regularly assess and treat injured native wildlife at no charge before they move on to wildlife carers for rehabilitation and release. We also run a kitten and cat adoption program and are actively involved in the local community.
Our Torquay hospital is well equipped for both routine and more involved medical and surgical cases. Facilities include digital radiography and dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house blood testing and pathology, hospitalisation facilities and a surgical suite where procedures range from routine surgery through to orthopaedics. Visiting specialists also perform more complex procedures in-house, including specialist surgery.
Our nurses are an important part of patient care across the clinic, with involvement in surgery, hospital care, consultations and client communication. We aim to provide modern, high-quality veterinary care while maintaining the friendly, personal approach of a long-standing community practice. Our current team includes experienced nurses with interests ranging from surgery and emergency care to wildlife, neonatal care and shelter medicine.
