About Us
The Austin Vet Specialists is an independent, South Australian family-owned specialist veterinary centre in Mile End South, Adelaide. Our independence gives us the freedom to do things differently, right down to naming our centre after Austin, our owners’ much-loved cat.
Our purpose-built centre brings together specialist surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and 24/7 emergency and urgent care. Our clinical team includes board-certified specialists, residents, interns, urgent care veterinarians, veterinary nurses and technicians, radiographers and animal care staff, supported by our client care and administration teams.
The clinical environment offers nurses exposure to a broad and interesting range of cases, including emergency and critical care, advanced anaesthesia, inpatient care and complex surgical and medical patients. Our facilities and services include CT, MRI, PET/CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, endoscopy, interventional radiology and advanced surgical capabilities.
Learning and development are a big part of how we support our nursing team. We invest in further education, including Nursing Diplomas and specialised training, and nurses moving into specialist practice are provided with training and support to develop their skills. Our Clinical Services Manager and experienced nursing team provide strong clinical support, so there are always people around to learn from and work alongside.
We also like to keep some personality in the workplace. Team members can bring their dogs to work, with a dedicated Pooch Lounge just for our team’s pups, and enjoying a laugh is very much part of who we are.
