About Us
TasVets Animal Health Partners is a small but rapidly growing clinic based in Smithton, a rural farming town in the far north-west of Tasmania.
Our caseload is predominantly dairy (around 80%), with primarily spring calving herds from smaller family-run farms through to large corporate operations. The remaining work includes beef (around 15%) and a small mix of small ruminants, equine, and the occasional dog vaccination (around 5%). We're fortunate to have many long-standing clients who are excellent to work with, and we're continuing to grow
We take a preventative approach to dairy health, working with producers to plan animal health interventions around the day-to-day running of their farms. Our services include ambulatory clinical work, reproduction and pregnancy testing, calf and heifer management, milk quality, nutrition and lameness prevention. We also train farm staff and owners in disease prevention.
Our down-to-earth team includes three full-time vets, experienced administration staff, FIFO locums and technicians who can assist with jobs that need an extra hand. Our equipment includes lameness tipper crushes, a teat-sealing trailer, bull fertility testing equipment, ultrasound units, in-house worm egg counting and a Mastatest machine.
Northwest Tasmania is a great place to live. You'll have rolling green hills on your doorstep, beaches 10–20 minutes away, and beautiful rainforests to explore on your days off. Smithton offers the essentials - shops, schools and day-to-day services - with Burnie less than an hour away for larger facilities, including an airport with regular flights to Melbourne.
