About Us
Quality Veterinary Care Centre is an independent, family-owned veterinary hospital in Yeppoon, Central Queensland. Opened in 2021 after many years of planning, the purpose-built hospital was created to provide the local community with comprehensive veterinary care, including 24-our emergency and critical care.
Working here offers exposure to much more than routine general practice. The hospital manages everything from consultations and preventative care through to surgery, dentistry, hospitalised patients, emergencies and intensive care. The team also works with visiting specialists in areas including orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery and internal medicine, giving nurses opportunities to be involved in a varied clinical environment and learn alongside experienced veterinary professionals.
The 500m² hospital has been designed around patient care and efficient clinical workflow. Facilities include four consultation rooms, two surgical theatres, a dedicated dental theatre and ward, separate dog and cat wards, an isolation and wildlife ward, an intensive treatment area, digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and an in-house laboratory. The hospital also has access to advanced imaging including CT and MRI when required.
Veterinary nurses play an active part in patient care at Quality Veterinary Care Centre. The practice uses a team consulting model in which patients are assessed by both a nurse and a vet, and nursing work can include consulting, medical and surgical nursing, inpatient care and involvement with emergency and critical patients. Nurse-led consulting is also part of the nursing role within the hospital.
Learning and professional development are an important part of the workplace. The practice provides ongoing training, workshops and team meetings, while collaboration with visiting specialists creates further opportunities for clinical learning and mentorship. The broader team includes veterinarians, qualified and trainee veterinary nurses, animal attendants and reception staff, creating an environment where different members of the hospital work closely together.
The hospital has also invested in facilities specifically for its team. An on-site staffed crèche supports employees with young children, while a dedicated team lounge provides space away from the clinical areas for breaks and time together. Training and meeting spaces are incorporated into the hospital, along with an on-site residence that can support staff and visiting specialists when overnight patient care is required.
