About Us
Belconnen Veterinary Centre and Gundaroo Veterinary Centre are two connected practices serving Canberra and the surrounding region. Together, our clinics offer an interesting combination of modern small animal general practice, advanced diagnostics and surgery, specialist services and regional mixed animal work.
Our team brings together a broad range of experience, qualifications and clinical interests. This includes vets with Memberships in Small Animal Surgery and advanced expertise in orthopaedics and complex soft tissue procedures, as well as veterinary interests in internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, feline medicine and end-of-life care. At Belconnen, the team also works alongside a registered Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine.
Belconnen Veterinary Centre provides comprehensive small animal care from everyday consultations and preventative healthcare through to advanced imaging, complex surgery and referral services. The hospital has CT, ultrasound and X-ray capabilities and a fully equipped surgical suite, with procedures including fracture repairs, cruciate and patellar surgery, pelvic and spinal surgery, laparoscopic procedures and complex soft tissue cases.
Gundaroo Veterinary Centre has a different feel, operating as a local, family-run clinic in a regional community just outside Canberra. Alongside companion animal medicine and surgery, the practice provides large animal and ambulatory services for horses, cattle, sheep, goats and alpacas. This includes on-farm care, herd health, pregnancy testing and emergency farm visits.
The two practices work closely together, giving patients access to different levels of care depending on their needs. For example, animals assessed at Gundaroo that require more advanced orthopaedic procedures can access the larger facilities, technology and surgical capabilities at Belconnen, with follow-up care continuing through the Gundaroo team.
For veterinary nurses and support staff, this creates a particularly varied veterinary environment. The wider team includes people with backgrounds and qualifications across veterinary nursing, veterinary medicine, veterinary technology, animal care and other professional fields, working alongside veterinarians with a diverse range of clinical expertise.
Across both practices, there is a strong emphasis on combining capable, evidence-based veterinary medicine with personal and compassionate patient care. Whether working within Belconnen's advanced small animal hospital environment or Gundaroo's smaller regional practice, team members are part of a connected veterinary group with exposure to an unusually broad range of veterinary work.
